Freight and passenger transport continue to reduce
Compared to the nine months of 2018, during the nine months of 2019 the freight traffic with road and pipeline transport has decreased by 7.1 %.
Freight and passenger transport reduce in the first half
Compared to the 1st half of 2018, during the 1st half of 2019 the volume of freights carried by rail and road has decreased.
The collection of statistics includes information on the length of roads, number of vehicles and transport activities broken down by the main mode of transport and covers the period from 2010 to 2018. The collection contains detailed information on the road freights that was acquired with the help of sample survey of lorries conducted in 2010–2018. Selected indicators are compared to other countries.
In the 1st quarter, freight transport at ports increased, by rail and road – decreased
Compared to the 1st quarter of 2018, in the 1st quarter of 2019 the freight turnover at ports increased by 1.6 million tonnes or 10.4 %.
The brochure contains tables and graphs depicting information on the social and economic situation in Latvia. The data are based on the provisional statistical information and covers the year 2018 in comparison with the previous years.
In 2018, increase recorded in both freight and passenger transport
Compared to 2017, in 2018 the volume of freights carried by land and via pipelines increased by 13.4 million tonnes or 11.7 % and freight turnover rose by 8.2 %.
