In 2019 Latvian residents spent almost EUR 800 million on trips abroad
In 2019 Latvian residents went on 2.4 million trips abroad, which is 9.6 % more than a year ago, and spent EUR 799.5 million, 41.8 % more.
In the 1st quarter, drop of 13.1 % in the number of visitors in tourist accommodation establishments in Latvia
In the 1st quarter of 2020 the number of foreign and resident visitors comprised 399.5 thousand which is 13.1 % less than in the 1st quarter of 2019.
In 2019, the largest number of foreign travellers and amount of expenditure was reached in Latvia
In 2019 foreign travellers crossed the border of Latvia 8.3 million times, which is 7.3 % more than the year before. Traveller expenditure rose by 7.2 % and reached EUR 806.3 million.

In March, downturn in the number of visitors in tourist accommodation establishments in Latvia by 62.7 %
In March 2020 the number of foreign and resident visitors comprised 64 thousand, which is 62.7 % less than in March 2019. As compared to March of the previous year, the number of nights spent by visitors has reduced by 58.2 % and comprised 141.6 thousand nights.
In 2019, number of visitors hosted at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments has grown by 1.6 %
Specifying data on Daugavpils and Jelgava cities, changes were made: indicator in Daugavpils is larger than the previously published one, but Jelgava is not among most popular places of stay of Latvian residents:
"Out of all foreign visitors, majority (75 %) stayed in Riga, 8.9 % – in Jūrmala, 2 % – in Liepāja, 1.9 % – in Sigulda county, 1.4 % – in Ventspils and 1.5% – in Daugavpils. Latvian residents stayed mostly in Riga (25.1 % of visitors), Jūrmala (9.3 %), Liepāja (7.3 %), Ventspils (3.3 %), Daugavpils (4.6 %), Sigulda county (2.8 %)."
2.85 million foreign and Latvian visitors stayed at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments in 2019, which is 1.6 % more than in 2018. Compared to the previous year, the number of nights spent by visitors increased by 2.6 %, reaching 5.51 million. The average length of stay comprised 1.9 nights.

In the 3rd quarter, upturn in the number of tourists from the neighbouring countries
1.03 million foreign and Latvian visitors stayed at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments in the 3rd quarter of 2019, which is 0.5 % more than in the 3rd quarter of 2018.
