The collection of statistics includes information drawn from the survey of persons crossing the state border and the travellers survey that were carried out in 2018. It also includes statistics on activities of hotels and similar accommodation establishments, as well as travel agencies and rural tourism accommodation establishments. The indicators are compared with the previous years.
The collection of statistics covers information on the number of children births and deaths, as well as age composition, state of health, education, social protection thereof, risk of material deprivation and monetary poverty in households with children, economic activity of children, use of information technologies, violence against children and children in conflict with law in 2018 and in comparison, with the previous years.
In the 2nd quarter, significant upturn in the number of tourists from Spain
781.1 thousand visitors stayed at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments in the 2nd quarter of 2019, which is 1.1 % more than in the 2nd quarter of 2018.
In 2018 Latvian residents spent EUR 564 million on trips abroad
In 2018 Latvian residents went on 2.2 million trips abroad, which is 5.8 % more than a year ago, and spent EUR 563.8 million, 0.3 % less.
In 2018, Latvian residents spent EUR 334 million on domestic trips
In 2018, as compared to 2017, the number of domestic trips of Latvian residents comprised 10,9 million and they spent EUR 333.9 million, EUR 31.2 million or 8.5 % less.
In the 1st quarter number of tourists from Norway has increased significantly
460 thousand visitors stayed at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments in the 1st quarter of 2019, which is 1.3 % more than in the 1st quarter of 2018.
