In June, 15.5 % of employees worked remotely

As the emergency situation in the country was lifted, the share of employees working remotely reduced. Accordingly results of the Labour Force Survey carried out by the Central Statistical Bureau, in June 2020, 15.5 % (117.1 thousand) of employees aged 15–74 years worked remotely¹, which is 2.7 percentage points (18.8 thousand) less than in May. 70 % of women and 30 % of men were working remotely.

In June, one fifth of employees (20.9 %) had option to work remotely, but 79.1 % did not have this option. Only 5.4 % of employees having option to work remotely did not use it.

The largest share of employees working remotely (31.2 %) were in age group 15–34 years, slightly less (27.0 %) – in age group 45-54 years. The largest share of males working remotely (35.7 %) were aged 35-44 years, but females (31.7 %) – in age group 15-34 years.

In June 2020 the largest share of employees working remotely (18.3 %) in the total number of employees of the respective age group was observed in age group 45-54 years, but the smallest (11.4 %) – in age group 55-74 years.

In June almost a half (47.5 %) of all employees working remotely were employed in trade and services sector (G–N)². Slightly less (46.2 %) of employees worked in other service sector (O–U). Only 4.7 % of all persons working remotely were employed in manufacturing (B–F).

Still, the largest (25.5 %) share of employees working remotely out of all employees in the respective sector was observed in other service sector (O–U). 16.6 % of employees engaged in trade and services sector (G–N) worked remotely, while in manufacturing sector – only 3.2 % of employees.

Most often (42.7 %) professionals³, slightly more than one third (34.2 %) of managers and slightly less than one third (32.4 %) of technicians and associate professionals worked remotely.

63.7 % of employees working remotely worked this way all working time in June, 18.3 % – on a regular basis 3–5 days a week, 7.8 % – on a regular basis 1–2 days a week. 5.2 % of employees worked remotely a couple of days a month, but 5.0 % – on a regular basis part of the working day or several hours.

In June 2020, 928 persons aged 15–74 years in 651 household were surveyed in Labour Force Survey.
