The Statistical Yearbook of Latvia is the most exhaustive annual publication of statistical information on the national economy and socio-economic processes in the country. The publication reflects data on 2019, compared to previous years.
In 2019, social protection expenditure increased by 7.6 %
That in 2019 Latvian social protection expenditure accounted for almost 5 billion or EUR 4 775.6 million and, it has grown by EUR 335.4 million or 7.6 %, compared to 2018.
The collection of statistics covers information on the number of children births and deaths, as well as age composition, state of health, education, social protection thereof, risk of material deprivation and monetary poverty in households with children, economic activity of children, use of information technologies, violence against children and children in conflict with law in 2018 and in comparison, with the previous years.

The European System of Integrated Social Protection Statistics (ESSPROS) was developed in the late ‘70s by Eurostat jointly with representatives of the Member States of the European Union in response to the need for a specific instrument for statistical observation of social protection in the EC Member States.
