Doctorate holders by age groups and sex

For the purpose of Survey on Careers of Doctorate Holders – persons aged under 70 which have obtained doctor degree in Latvia or outside it (International Standardised Classification of Education – ISCED level 6-1997). Sample included:
- persons which during Soviet times have become doctoral candidates or obtained doctor degree in the Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic, or anywhere else in the former Soviet Union and which doctoral candidate’s or doctor degree is considered equal to doctorate degree of the Republic of Latvia (excluding doctorate degree obtained in the Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic, which has been awarded for dissertation on Marxism-Leninism, Scientific Communism, history of Soviet Communist (Bolshevik) Party, scientific atheism, soviet law, apologetics of the soviet ideology organisations, as well as for thesis which glorify totalitarian ideology or discredit and/or deny sovereignty of the Latvian Republic);
- persons awarded with the doctorate degree in Latvia after the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Latvia;
- persons awarded with the doctorate degree outside Latvia.
