Lower birth and migration rates recorded in Latvia
At the beginning of 2019 population of Latvia accounted for 1 million 920 thousand people, which is 14.4 thousand people fewer than a year ago.

Upturn in registered marriages
Over the past three years the number of registered marriages has risen slightly. In 2018, 13.4 thousand marriages were registered, which is 200 marriages more than in 2017 when the increase recorded over the year constituted 148 marriages.

Number of newborn keeps declining
The number of births registered over the first nine months of 2018 (14 680 children) is 1 267 children or 8 % smaller than that registered in the respective period of 2017.
