Population and Housing Census 2021 has begun
2021 is the year of the Population and Housing Census, which will differ from the previous years of the census in that the interviewers of the Central Statistical Bureau will not visit in person the population for interviews and individuals will not have to fill in electronic questionnaires.
In Latvia, 43.2% of families are raising minor children
In preparation for the Population and Housing Census 2021 from administrative data sources, the Central Statistical Bureau is starting to publish statistics on families and the level of education of the population.

2000 Population and Housing Census
According to the 2000 Population and Housing Census, the number of population of Latvia on 31 March, 2000, was 2 377 383.
Since 1989, the number of population has fallen by 289 thsd persons or by 10.8 %. The fall in the number of urban population has been sharper than the fall in rural population - 14.3 % compared with 2.4 % for rural population.

Before Census 2000 and 2011, Population Censuses were conducted in: 1920, 1925, 1930, 1935, 1959, 1970, 1979 and 1989.
