Foreign trade of Latvia in March 2008
Compared to February 2007, the total foreign trade turnover in current prices in March 2008 reached 1008.1 mln lats – less by 2.3 mln lats or 0.2% than a month before and more by 4.5 mln lats or 0.4% than in March last year, according to Central Statistical Bureau data.

Compared to February, on March 2008 most rapidly increased exports on wood in the rough in current prices - by 32.6%, on iron and non-alloy steel – by 11.3%, on sawn wood – by 10.7%, but significantly decreased exports on paper and paperboard, articles of paper – by 42.9%, on particle board – by 25.6%, on fuel wood – by 14.3%, on non-ferrous metals and articles thereof – by 13.8%, on veneer sheets – 8.1%.
Compared to March 2007, the largest increase in exports was on articles of iron or steel – by 28.3%, on veneer sheets and plywood – by 15.2%, on electronic machinery and equipment – by 13.7%, on pharmaceutical products – by 10.7%, but decrease in exports was on sawn wood – by 33.9%, on wood in the rough – by 20.9%, on iron and non-alloy steel – by 9.3%.

In March 2008, compared to the previous month, the imports of sawn wood at current prices decreased – by 28.1%, of machinery and mechanical appliances – by 18.5%, of iron and non-alloy steel – by 13.4%, of motor spirits – by 11.5%, however, the increase in imports was on pharmaceutical products – by 23.2%, on passenger cars – 18.0%, on electrical machinery and equipment – by 7.6%, on diesel oil – by 6.9%.
Compared to March 2007 the largest imports decrease was on sawn wood – by 62.5%, on passenger cars – by 28.1%, on machinery and mechanical appliances – by 28.1%, on iron and non-alloy steel – by 24.7%, however, increase was on imports of motor spirits – by 25.3%, of natural gas – by 24.4% and of diesel oil – by 14.3%.
