Activities of CHP plants
Statistics on CHP plant activities characterise the number of CHP plants, electrical capacity installed, electricity and heat produced, as well as to estimate the number of CHP plants by the type of fuel consumed.
Terms and definitions
Simultaneous generation of electricity and heat in the same technological device and cycle.
Combined Heat and Power plant (CHP)
Power plant consisting of cogeneration devices and heat peak load boiler devices.
CHP plants are classified according to the purpose of production:
- public CHP plants main activity of which is production of electricity and heat (NACE Rev. 2 Division 35);
- autoproducer CHP plants that are generating electricity and heat for their own technological use and selling part of the produced heat (NACE Rev. 2, except NACE Rev. 2 Division 35).
Device or a complex of devices for simultaneous production of electricity and heat in a single technological process. Combined heat and power (CHP) equipment does not include devices used solely for the production of heat or electricity.
Electrical capacity (CHP has started its work at least three months before the end of the reference period)
Total heating capacity generated in devices producing heat if CHP plant has started its work at least three months before the end of the reference period.
Installed heating capacity of CHP plants that for the production of heat are using both cogeneration devices and water heating boilers is shown including capacity of these boilers.
Heat produced during the year by public combined heat and power plants and heat plants and autoproducer heat and power plants and heat plants producing heat for sale.
Oil and oil products, including liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas, liquefied natural gas and biomethane, shale, shale oil, coal, peat, fuelwood and other biomass, and bioliquids combusted for power generation.
Survey method and data source
Data are acquired with the help of full-scope survey from several data sources:
- CSB annual statistical report form 1-energy "Report on production of heat and electricity";
- Annex to the CSB annual statistical report form "Annex to the report 1-energy".
All CHP plants that have started their work at least three months before the end of the reference period.
Until 2012 in table ENG130 Number of combined heat and power plants (chp), electrical capacity, produced electricity and heat energy data on autoproducer CHP plants include all produced heat. Data differ from energy balance, because in transformation sector of energy balance only heat produced for sale is included.
Data are compiled and published in compliance with:
- Statistical Classification of Economic Activities (NACE Rev. 2);
- Combined Nomenclature (CN).
