Consumer price level in february 2008
Compared to January 2008, the average consumer price level in February 2008 rose by 1.3%. Prices for goods increased by 1.5%, but prices for services – by 0.9%.
The rise in the prices of tobacco products, heating energy, as well as services related to the housing maintenance and the price decrease of telecommunication services had the greatest impact on consumer price changes in February.
The prices of milk and dairy products, eggs, cereal products, confectionery, meat, fish and fish products, sweets, fats and oils, as well as other food products and non-alcoholic beverages continued to rise.
The prices of catering services, services of individual care and health care institutions, transport services, legal and financial services, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, pharmaceutical goods, flowers, pet food, books and stationery increased.
Due to the sales campaigns, the prices of wearing apparel decreased. The price decrease also was recorded for services of mobile telecommunications, automotive fuel, TV, audio, video and photographic equipment, recording media and telephones.
Compared to the February of previous year, the consumer prices have increased by 16.7%, of which prices for goods increased by 16.7%, but for services – by 16.5%.
Moving 12 months average rate of change in February 2008 was 11.6%.
