During the year consumer prices rose by 0.7%
Compared to April 2013, the average consumer price level in April 20141), rose by 0.7%. Prices of goods did not change, while prices of services grew by 2.6%. Compared to the previous 12 months, the average consumer price level over the last 12 months2), increased by 0.1%.

|Commodity group impact on Consumer Price Index over the last 12 months|
The greatest pressure on the average level of consumer prices in April 2014, as compared to April 2013, was put by the increase in prices of hotel and restaurant services, recreational and cultural goods and activities, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, as well as by the price drop of transport goods and services.
During the 12 months, prices of food increased by 0.5%. The most notable price growth was recorded for milk and dairy products, cheese, potatoes, as well as for meat and meat products. The most significant price drop was recorded for tea and coffee, vegetables, bread and cereals and eggs.
Prices of alcoholic beverages grew by 0.7%, but of tobacco – by 3.5%.
Transport group indicated a drop in the prices of fuels for transport (-2.7%), while price growth was observed for maintenance and repair services of personal transport equipment (+2.7%).
During the year prices of communication services decreased by 2.6% due to drop in the prices of wireless telephone services and internet access provision services.
In recreation and culture group prices on average grew by 2.0%, which was affected by price growth for cultural services, garden products and flowers, newspapers and periodicals, as well as of package holidays.
During the last 12 months, prices of hotel and restaurant services increased by 3.9%.
Among other consumption groups major price increases were recorded for maintenance charges in multi-occupied buildings and solid fuel.In its turn, prices of heat energy decreased.
As compared to the previous month, consumer prices in April 2014 rose by 0.5%.The average level of prices of goods increased by 0.6%, whereas prices of services did not change.
The greatest pressures on the consumer prices during the month were put by growth in prices of clothing and footwear, food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, as well as by drop in the prices of transport goods and services.
The most notable increase within the food group was observed in prices of bread and cereals (+1.2%), meat and meat products (+1.0%), milk, cheese and eggs (+1.3%), fruit (+4.1%), sugar, confectionery, honey (+2.7%). Affected by seasonal factors and discounts, prices of vegetables dropped by 2.3%.
Price of alcoholic beverages increased by 2.5%, which was affected by the end of various discounts.
Due to the end of seasonal sales campaigns and entering of the new seasonal goods to the market, prices of footwear grew by 13.7%.
Drop was recorded for prices of fuels for transport (of 0.8%), garden products and flowers and package holidays.
