Breakdown of net turnover of wholesale enterprises
Data on net turnover of wholesale enterprises are used to obtain information on net turnover of wholesale enterprises in Latvia in breakdown by groups of commodities sold.
Data on wholesale turnover in breakdown by groups of commodities for sale are collected once in five years.
Concepts and definitions
Wholesale [breakdown of turnover]
Wholesale is the resale of new and used goods (sale without transformation) to retail traders or other wholesale enterprises, professional users and institutions. Wholesale middlemen, agent or broker activities are also included.
Wholesale enterprise is company main activity of which is the resale of new and used goods (sale without transformation) to retail traders or other wholesale traders, professional users or institutions.
Turnover [trade and services]
Turnover is income from sale of goods and provision of services, from which trade discounts are subtracted, as well as value added tax (VAT) and other taxes, which are directly related with sale.
Data collection and statistical processing
Survey method and data source
Data on wholesale turnover in breakdown by groups of commodities for sale are obtained conducting sample survey. Survey includes all economically active enterprises whose main kind of activity is wholesale (NACE 46), and which breaks them down in more details.
Information are collected from CSB annual statistical report form 6-trade "Report on wholesale turnover by groups of commodities".
Enterprises are stratified by kind of activity and Statistical Classification of Economic Activities (NACE Rev. 2) and turnover. The larger the annual turnover of the company, the higher the probability for this enterprise to be included in the sample.
2 000 enterprises out of 7.3 thousand were surveyed in 2008.
2 040 enterprises out of 8.1 thousand will be surveyed in 2013.
The data published are final and are not revised, except cases when significant mistakes are found in the company reports .
Data are collected and published using following classifications:
- Statistical Classification of Economic Activities (NACE Rev. 2);
- Statistical classification of products by activity (CPA).
