Industrial output in February 2006

The data of Central Statistical Bureau show that in February 2006, as compared with February of the previous year, the output of industrial production has risen according to seasonally adjusted data by 7.2%, including 19.5% in mining and quarrying, 6.2% in processing industry, and 9.5% in electricity, gas and water supply.

Compared to February of the previous year, in February of the current year there was an increase by 5.4% in manufacturing of food products and beverages. Increase could be observed in the following sub-sectors: 18.7% in manufacturing, processing and preserving of meat and meat products, 15.5% in manufacturing of milk products, 11.8% in manufacturing of beverages, 8.8% in processing and preserving of fish and fish products, 7.3% in manufacturing of other food products (bread, confectionery and sugar). There were the following decreases: 58.2% in processing and preserving of fruit and vegetables, 8.5% in manufacturing of grain mill products and of starch and starch products, 5.7% in manufacturing of prepared animal food.

In comparison with February of the previous year, production output in February 2006 increased in the following sectors: 36.3% in manufacturing of electrical machinery and equipment, 32.7% in manufacturing of pulp, paper and paper products, 29.4% in manufacturing of textiles, 28.0% in manufacturing of chemicals, chemical products and man-made fibres, 14.2% in manufacturing of rubber and plastic products, 12.8% in publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media, 9.4% in manufacturing of fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment, 5.6% in wood processing and manufacturing of wood articles, except furniture, 2.8% in manufacturing of furniture, 0.1% in processing of basic metals.

Decrease in industrial output was 31.0% in manufacturing of other transport equipment (building and repair of ships, boats, locomotives, and carriages), 10.8% in manufacturing of non-metallic mineral products (ceramics, cement, concrete and other products), 8.2% in manufacturing of wearing apparel, 5.1% in manufacturing of machinery and equipment.

Compared to January 2006, industrial output increased by 0.9% in February 2006, including 0.4% in mining and quarrying; 0.9% in processing industry, and 1.1% in electricity, gas and water supply.
