On manufacturing turnover in August 2009

Compared to July 2009 manufacturing turnover1 at current prices (according to seasonally adjusted data2) in August 2009 has increased by 2.1%, of which in domestic market - by 0.6% and in exports - by 4%, according to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau.

The most notable turnover growth was recorded in the manufacture of other transport equipment (building of ships and boats, manufacture of railway locomotives and rolling stock) – 62.3%, in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations – 28.7%, and in manufacturing of chemicals and chemical products turnover rose by 26.5%.

But most significant turnover reduction was observed in manufacture of textiles – 15.9%, of which exports – 15.7% (81% of total turnover in sector), in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products – 12.8%, of which exports – 17.1% (88% of total turnover in sector) and in manufacturing of furniture – 7.9%, of which exports – 4% (73% of total turnover in sector).

Compared to August 2008 industrial turnover in manufacturing (according to working day adjusted data) in August 2009 decreased by 31.9%, of which in domestic market – by 31.4% and in exports – by 32.6%.

2 The influence of varying number of working days in the month and factors of seasonal repetition, i.e., seasonal fluctuations of goods produced in selected economic activities, has been eliminated.
