On manufacturing turnover in January 2010

Compared to December 2009 manufacturing turnover1 at current prices (according to seasonally adjusted data2) in January 2010 has decreased by 3.7%, of which in export - by 9% and in domestic market it grew by 1.2%, according to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau.

Most notable turnover decrease was observed in manufacture of basic metals – 33%, in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products – 16%, and in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations – 14.3%. But the most significant turnover growth, in turn, was recorded inrepair and installation of machinery and equipment – 71.8% (in domestic market 87.2%, in export – 4.4%), in manufacture of beverages – 16.4% (in domestic market – 9.8%, in export – 40.4%).

Compared to January 2009, manufacturing turnover according to working day adjusted3 data in January 2010 decreased by 6.9%, of which in domestic market – by 11.7% and in export – by 0.5%.

2 The influence of varying number of working days in the month and factors of seasonal repetition, i.e., seasonal fluctuations of goods produced in selected economic activities, has been eliminated. This indicator was calculated only for comparison with previous period.
