In 2019 the highest harvested production of grain was recorded – 3.2 million t, which is 1.1 million t or 1.5 times more than a year ago.
The Statistical Yearbook of Latvia is the most exhaustive annual publication of statistical information on the national economy and socio-economic processes in the country. The publication reflects data on 2018, compared to previous years.
The collection of statistics contains the key indicators characterising situation in agriculture in 2010, 2015, 2017 and 2018: sown areas, harvested production and yield of agricultural crops, number of livestock, livestock production, use of mineral and organic fertilisers, grouping of agricultural holdings by sown area and yield of agricultural crops and number of livestock, supply balance sheets and prices of agricultural products.
The brochure contains tables and graphs depicting information on the social and economic situation in Latvia. The data are based on the provisional statistical information and covers the year 2018 in comparison with the previous years.
Long-running drought of 2018 resulted in the lowest cereal yield over the past seven years
In 2018 harvested production of grain constituted 2.1 million tonnes, which is 635.2 thousand tonnes or 23.6 % less than a year ago and the smallest harvested production recorded over the past five years.

Last year, the highest yield of agricultural crops was harvested in Dobele, Aizpute and Nereta counties
Among all counties, the highest cereal yield was recorded in Dobele county. In 2017 the average yield of cereals in Latvia constituted 38.3 ql/ha, while the indicator registered in Dobele county was almost two times higher – 64.9 ql/ha.
