On producer prices and price indices in agriculture in 2010
Compared to 2009, producer price index in agriculture in 2010 has increased by 19.0%, according to the data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau.
In comparison with 2009, prices of crop products in 2010 grew by 23.6%, and prices of livestock products increased by 14.4%.
Compared to the year before, in 2010 price growth was observed among all crop products: prices of grain rose by 44.8%, of rape – by 29.3%, of vegetables – by 38.9%, of fruit and berries – by 17.7%, and prices of potatoes increased by 10.2%.
The average purchase prices of grain have grown significantly - from LVL 73.25 per ton in 2009 to LVL 106.06 per ton in 2010 or by 44.8%, of which prices of wheat – from LVL 79.75 to LVL 110.21 per ton or by 38.2%, of rye – from LVL 56.02 to LVL 79.72 per ton or by 42.3%, and prices of barley – from LVL 61.95 to LVL 92.86 per ton or by 49.9%.

The price growth of livestock production was influenced by the increase of milk, beef and veal, sheep and goat meat prices by 37.6%, 2.1% and 27.0%, respectively. Prices of pork, poultry meat and eggs, in turn, diminished by 6.6%, 10.7% and 9.8%, respectively.
