Producer prices and price indices in agriculture in 2005
Producer prices and price indices in agriculture continue to rise, according to the Central Statistical Bureau.
Compared to 2004, producer prices in agriculture in 2005 increased by 13.1% (8.6% in crop farming and 15.7% in livestock farming).
In 2005, the increase in the overall price level in crop farming was mainly due to the following price increases: 3.0 percentage points for sugar beet, 2.1 percentage points for vegetables, 6.4 percentage points for potatoes and 0.3 percentage points for fruit and berries. The fall in the prices of cereals had a lowering impact on the price level in crop farming (by 4.0 percentage points).
The overall price levels of livestock products in 2005 were raised by the following increases: 6.2 percentage points for beef and poultry meat, 9.2 percentage points for milk and 0.3 percentage points for eggs.
