898.0 thousand people or 63.5 % of Latvia population aged 15–74 were employed in the 1st quarter of 2018. Over the year, employment rate grew by 1.9 percentage points and number of employed persons by 15.5 thousand.

In the 1st quarter of 2018 Latvian unemployment rate constituted 8.2 %. Compared to the previous quarter, unemployment rate rose by 0.1 percentage points, while compared to the corresponding quarter of the year before – by 1.2 percentage points.
Rise in electricity produced in CHP plants from renewable energy sources

Compared to the 1st quarter of 2017, in the 1st quarter of 2018 construction output increased by 35.7 % (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices).
In March foreign trade turnover in goods was 2.7 % smaller than last year
In March 2018 the foreign trade turnover of Latvia amounted to EUR 2.19 billion, which at current prices was 2.7 % smaller than in March 2017, of which the exports value of goods was 6.1 % smaller, but imports value of goods was 0.2 % higher.
During the year, the average level of consumer prices increased by 2.0 %
During the year (in April 2018, compared to April 2017) the average level of consumer prices rose by 2.0 %. Prices of goods grew by 1.5 % and prices of services by 3.3 %.
One fifth of Latvia population has never consulted family doctor during the past 12 months
In 2017, 20.1 % of population aged 16 and over in Latvia have never consulted a family doctor or general practitioner1 during the past 12 months, and almost half – medical specialist (48.7 %) or dentist (48.9 %).
In March, industrial output grew by 0.6 %
Compared to March 2017, in March 2018 industrial production output increased by 0.6 % (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices).
Flash estimate shows that GDP rose by 4.3 % in the 1st quarter
Compared to the 1st quarter of 2017, in the 1st quarter of 2018 the gross domestic product value increased by 4.3 % (according to seasonally and calendar non-adjusted data).
