CSB and institutions responsible for European Statistics sign memorandum of understanding
On Wednesday, December 12, memorandum of understanding among statistical institutions on cooperation in introduction of Quality Policy in System of Official Statistics was signed in the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB).
“Data, system and quality are keywords of nowadays statistics,” pointed out CSB President Aija Žīgure in her speech. “Our common aim is to achieve that statistics produced by institutions is of high quality and approved by our data users.”
It is responsibility of state institutions providing Official European statistics to ensure Latvian, European and international policy-makers and society with official statistics of high quality following general quality requirements set out in European Statistics Code of Practice. To promote implementation of these requirements in statistics institutions, the CSB has defined aim and principles of Quality Policy in Official Statistics System and encourages statistics institutions to follow these principles by signing memorandum of understanding.
First, who signed memorandum, were statistics institutions producing Official European Statistics. During the event, the existing situation, as well as further cooperation in the improvement of general quality requirements in official statistics was discussed.
