Data on areas, harvested production and average yield of agricultural crops are used to acquire information on crop production sector during the corresponding time period.

Data are collected in compliance with the requirements of European Parliament and Council Regulation (EC) No 543/2009.

Definitions

Technically and economically independent unit having common management producing agricultural products or preserving good agricultural and environmental conditions in the soil.

Holdings may produce also non-agricultural products and provide non-agricultural services.

Average yield of agricultural crops is calculated on the basis of the harvested crop production in basic sown areas per 1 ha of spring productive area of corresponding crop, except hay from sown grasslands and natural meadows; the indicator for the latter is calculated from the actually harvested areas.

Part of the sown area from which production is harvested. It may be equal or smaller than sown area.

It is production harvested from basic, repeated and inter-row sown areas.

Data on grain are given in barn weight, i.e., the weight after the first treatment deducting the unusable waste and loss through drying till the stated standard humidity.

Area in which corresponding agricultural crops are grown.

Data collection

Survey method and data source

Data on sown areas, harvested production and average yield of agricultural crops are obtained by conducting a sample survey.

Data source is CSB statistical report form 2-ls "Crop production".

Target population

Economically active agricultural holdings.

Sample size

Sample has been formed as stratified simple random sampling. Holdings are stratified by their location (NUTS 3), type of farming and economic size.

Year Sample size
2016 3763
2015 4043
2014 3 863
2013 3 712
2012 5 188
2011 5 166
2010 5 173
2009 5 137
2008 5 982

Statistical processing

Calculation methods

Extrapolation of the data on the surveyed holdings to all agricultural holdings is based on the number of similar holdings represented by sampled holdings as well as actual response rate in each of the survey territories.

Data revision

Published data are final and are not revised.
