Data on road traffic accidents are used to determine the number of road traffic accidents, number of persons killed or injured in breakdown by statistical regions and cities under state jurisdiction, number of persons killed or injured in road traffic accidents in breakdown by age, status of participation in traffic, sex.

Definitions

An accident in road traffic with at least one transport vehicle involved causing as a consequence death of a person or bodily injury or losses of the belongings of a natural or legal person or damage to the environment, as well as an accident involving a road vehicle and occurring at a place that allows vehicle traffic.

Data cover only road traffic accidents involving casualties.

Prior to 2003, road traffic accidents where persons were killed outright at the place of the accident or who died within the next 7 days were considered as road deaths. Starting with 2004 road deaths include persons who were killed outright at the place of the accident or who died within 30 days after the accident.

Survey method and data source

Data are obtained from information provided by JSC "Road Traffic Safety Directorate".

Data cover the whole country. Data on the number of road traffic accidents, injuries and persons killed are also available in breakdown by cities under state jurisdiction and districts.

Data revision

The data published are final and are not adjusted.
