Data on privatisation of dwellings and denationalisation of housing property are used to find out the number of privatised dwellings in statistical regions, cities under state jurisdiction and districts, as well as to get information on number of denationalised buildings and dwellings, floor space thereof and number of persons that have recovered their property.

Definitions

Denationalisation of buildings is a process whereby the ownership rights to the previously nationalised properties are restored to the lawful owners or their heirs.

Granting of dwelling ownership rights before the privatisation of the whole residential building ("accelerated privatisation") takes place in those cases when the respective local government has not yet started privatisation of the residential building but the tenant has been renting before the privatisation of the whole house.

After the start of the privatisation process of the respective building, those dwelling owners who have been granted ownership rights before the privatisation of the whole building are obliged to register their privatised dwelling in the Land Register.

Privatisation of dwellings is a series of actions resulting in the acquisition of ownership rights by natural and legal persons to dwellings in central or local government-owned multi-dwelling houses; these rights are then consolidated in the Land Register.
