Annual data on airport activities are used to obtain information on passenger arrivals and departures, cargoes loaded and unloaded, as well as passenger arrivals and departures in breakdown by countries.

Definitions

Aircrafts, airfields and other objects serving the purpose of transportation by air and specific aviation functions, as well as sport aviation, aviation popularization and other public and private needs.

It is determined in tons by actual weight of freight transported, including all packing weight, weight of different containers or other packing, palette weight where goods are placed, tare weight.

Information on passenger arrivals and departures at airports includes data on passenger turnover with aircraft owned by Latvia and foreign countries.

Classifications

Data are collected in compliance with:

  • ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) aircraft type designator;
  • ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) airport codes.

A Classification Catalogue with classification codes and their explanations has been published on the CSB website.

Additional information

Indicator "passenger arrivals and departures at the airport Rīga" that is published in Latvia differs from the indicator published in the Eurostat data bases. Latvia publishes all passenger arrivals and departures at the airport "Rīga", but data available in Eurostat data bases is only on passenger arrivals and departures with revenue flights and cargoes loaded and unloaded with transport for hire or reward.

Data are collected from CSB monthly report form 2-airports "Survey of aircraft traffic through the airports".

Statistical population

Airports of Latvia with passenger turnover (arrivals and departures) of 150 000 and more per year.

Data revision

Data published are final and are not adjusted.
