Sale of manufacturing products in the 1st quarter has grown
Latest data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia show that, in comparison with the 1st quarter of 2012, manufacturing turnover  in the 1st quarter of 2013 increased by 4.7% (according to calendar adjusted data at current prices), of which by 3.8% in domestic market and by 5.7% in export.

In comparison with the 4th quarter of 2012, manufacturing turnoverin the 1st quarter of 2013 decreased by 0.4% (according to seasonally adjusted data), of which by 2.3% in export, whereas in domestic market there was an increase of 1.2%.
Compared to March 2012, manufacturing turnover (according to calendar adjusted data) in March 2013 rose by 2.2%, of which by 4.1% in domestic market and by 0.2% in export. Turnover rise in both markets was influenced by manufacture of food products, manufacture of basic metals, manufacture of furniture and manufacture of textiles. In its turn, turnover drop was recorded in manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture – of 2.3% (reduction in both domestic market and export) and in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products – of 6.8% (decrease in export and increase in domestic market).
In comparison with February, manufacturing turnover in March grew by 0.8%. Rise was mainly caused by the domestic market (growth of 1.7%), while in export there was a drop (of 0.3%). The most notable turnover increase, as compared to the month before, in both domestic market and export, was recorded in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products - of 52.7%, in manufacture of basic metals – of 29.4%, and in manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment – of 14.8%.
