Retail trade turnover in September 2009

Total retail trade turnover in September 2009 constituted LVL 285.7 mln, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau, of which excluding automotive fuel – LVL 227.5 mln. In January – September 2009 these indicators comprised LVL 2746.2 mln and LVL 2257.7 mln, respectively.

Compared to August total retail trade turnover in September of this year has decreased by 1.6%, according to seasonally adjusted data (calculating at constant prices). Retail trade turnover in enterprises selling mainly non-food products reduced by 1.5%. In retail trade enterprises selling mainly food products the reduction was slightly higher – 1.8%.

Compared to September 2008 in September of this year, according to working (trade) day adjusted data, calculating at constant prices, total retail trade turnover has decreased by 30.9%. Still more significant reduction was recorded in non-food product group – by 34.6%. In retail trade enterprises selling mainly food products it reduced by 22.7%.

Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2009 retail trade turnover in the 3rd quarter of 2009 has diminished by 6.7%, according to seasonally adjusted data (at constant prices), of which in enterprises selling mainly food products by 7.6%, but in enterprises selling mainly non-food products – by 6.2%.

But compared to the 3rd quarter of 2008 reduction of turnover in retail trade enterprises comprised 30%, according to working (trade) day adjusted data. Retail trade in enterprises selling mainly food products has reduced by 23.5%, but in companies selling mainly non-food products – by 33%.
