Retail trade turnover in May 2009

Total retail trade turnover in May 2009 constituted LVL 317.8 mln, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau, of which excluding automotive fuel – LVL 262.5 mln. In January – May 2009 these indicators comprised LVL 1525.4 mln And LVL 1279.6 mln, respectively.

Compared to April total retail trade turnover in May of this year has increased by 0.9%, according to seasonally adjusted data (calculating at constant prices). In retail trade of non-food products this growth was more significant – 1.2%. Slightly lower it was in retail trade companies selling mainly food products – by 0.5%.

Compared to May 2008
total retail trade turnover in May of this year has decreased by 26.4%, according to working (trade) day adjusted data, calculating at constant prices. Still more notable reduction of retail trade was observed in non-food commodity group – 29.9%, slightly lower it was in enterprises selling mainly food products – 18.9%.
