Retail trade turnover in March 2010

Compared to February, total retail trade turnover (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices) in March 2010 grew by 2.9%, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau. Retail trade turnover in enterprises selling mainly food products grew by 1.6%. But in enterprises selling mainly non-food products retail trade turnover growth constituted 3.6%.

Compared to March 2009 total retail trade turnover in March of this year has decreased by 7.4%, according to working (trade) day adjusted data, calculating at constant prices. Most notable decrease in March was recorded in non-food product group – 7.8%. Retail trade of food products reduced by 6.7%.

Compared to the 4th quarter of 2009 retail trade turnover in the 1st quarter of 2010 rose by 2.5%, according to seasonally adjusted data (at constant prices), of which in enterprises selling mainly food products by 0.7%, but in enterprises selling mainly non-food products – by 3.5%.

Compared to the 1st quarter of 2009, retail trade turnover reduction comprised 12.5%, according to working (trade) day adjusted data. Retail trade in enterprises selling mainly food products has reduced by 11.9%, but in companies selling mainly non-food products – by 12.8%.
