On retail trade turnover in June 2008

In comparison with May, total retail trade turnover in June 2008 has decreased by 2.2%1, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau.

Retail trade of food products has grown slightly - by 1.1%, but non-food products were sold 4% less than in the previous month.

Compared to June 2007, in June of this year retail trade turnover has reduced by 8.3%2, of which in enterprises selling mainly food by 6.1%, but in non-food enterprises – by 9.7%.

Changes of turnover in retail trade enterprises (as % of corresponding month of previous year, at constant prices, working day adjusted)

Compared to the corresponding quarter of previous year, in the 2nd quarter of 2008 total retail trade turnover has decreased by 4.5%2. Most notable decrease was recorded in enterprises selling mainly food - 5.9%. Retail trade turnover in enterprises selling mainly non-food products reduced by 3.6%.

In comparison with the corresponding period of 2007, in the first half of 2008 total retail trade turnover decreased by 3%2. The highest decrease was observed in the retail trade in food products - 5.1%. Non-food products were sold 1.8% less.

Compared to May, in June 2008 retail trade turnover of enterprises the main activity of which is the sale of motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts thereof has increased slightly - by 2.6%1, of which the sale of motor vehicles grew by 4.2%, but sale of motorcycles and motor vehicle parts has reduced by 1.9%.

Compared to 2nd quarter of 2007, in 2nd quarter of this year the sale motor vehicles decreased by 19.4%2, but retail trade of motorcycles and motor vehicle parts has grown slightly - by 0.2%. Retail trade turnover of automotive fuel in corresponding period has reduced by 6.6%.
