On retail trade turnover in July 2008

In January - July 2008 total retail trade turnover (at current prices) was 2349 mln lats, of which in July – 356 mln lats, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau.

In July, compared to June 2008 (seasonally adjusted data, at constant prices), it has decreased by 0.2%. Retail trade of food products has decreased by 3.3%, but of non-food products – increased by 1.6%.

Compared to July 2007, in July this year working (trade) day adjusted data (at constant prices), total retail trade turnover decreased by 8.5%. Larger volume decrease was in non-food products group - by 9.4%. Slightly less it decreased in food products enterprises – by 6.7%. Increase was observed only in retail sale via mail order houses – by 7.2% and in retail trade in pharmaceutical and medical goods – by 3.2%. However, total retail trade turnover (at current prices) increased by 2.8% (non-adjusted data).

Compared to the same period of previous year, in January—July of 2008, retail trade turnover decreased by 3.9% (working day adjusted data, at constant prices), of which in retail trade of food products it decreased by 5.3%, but in retail trade of non-food products – by 3.1%. However, total retail trade turnover (at current prices) in this period increased by 8.2% (non-adjusted data).
