Starting with January 2009 retail trade turnover is listed according to Statistical Classification of Economic Activities NACE Rev. 2. Unlike NACE Rev.1.1 retail trade also includes fuel sale in fuel filling stations which previously was included in sale of motor vehicles and motorcycles.
Total retail trade turnover in January 2009 constituted LVL 309.7 mln, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau, of which excluding automotive fuel – LVL 262.1 mln.
Compared to January this year, in December 2008 it has decreased by 8.5%, according to seasonally adjusted data (calculating at constant prices). Retail trade of non-food products has decreased by 10.9%, but retail trade of food products by 3.7%.

Compared to January 2008 in January of this year, according to working (trade) day adjusted data, calculating at constant prices, total retail trade turnover has decreased by 19.8%. Most notable decrease was recorded in non-food product group – by 23.2%. Less it has reduced in companies selling mainly food products – by 12.6%.
