On producer prices and price indices in agriculture in 2011

Compared to 2010, producer price index in agriculture in 2011 increased by 18.0%, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau.

Influenced by the rise in prices of production resources (fuel, electricity, mineral fertilisers, feed grain), producer prices of crop products, if compared to the previous year, have grown by 22.7%, whereas producer prices of livestock products - by 13.1%.

In 2011 producer prices of grain increased by 27.0%, rape prices - by 34.3% and prices of potatoes - by 30.3%, while prices of vegetables diminished by 12.7% and fruit and berry prices - by 12.0%.

Average purchase prices of grain have grown noticeably - from LVL 106.06 per ton in 2010 to LVL 134.70 per ton in 2011 (by 27.0%), of which prices of wheat – from LVL 110.21 to LVL 138.82 per ton (by 26.0%), of rye – from LVL 79.72 to LVL 120.19 per ton (by 50.8%), of barley – from LVL 92.86 to LVL 118.62 per ton (by 27.7%).
 

Producer prices of crop products, LVL per 1 ton

Rise in livestock product producer prices in 2011, if compared to the previous year, was due to the increase in producer prices of beef and veal (by 18.4%), pork (by 8.4%), poultry (by 4.6%) and milk (by 16.5%). Mutton and goat meat producer prices have dropped by 7.6%, and egg prices – by 3.1%.
