On producer price changes in March 2007

Compared to February, producer prices in Latvian industry in March 2007 rose by 1.5%, according to the Central Statistical Bureau. Over the year (March 2007 over March 2006) producer prices have increased by 16.0%.

Compared to February, the overall level of producer prices in March was mostly raised by the following price increases: 0.6 percentage points in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood except furniture, 0.2 percentage points in the manufacture of food products and beverages and in the manufacture of fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment. In the same period the price decreases in publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media and in the manufacture of furniture decreased the overall level of producer prices by 0.1 percentage point in each of activities.

Over the year the price increase in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood except furniture left the biggest impact on the overall level of producer prices, increasing it by 5.8 percentage points. The rise in the tariffs of electricity, gas, steam and hot water supply increased the overall level of producer prices by 2.3 percentage points. The rise in prices of the manufacture of food products and beverages increased the overall level of producer prices by 1.8 percentage points, in the manufacture of non-metallic mineral products - by 0.8 percentage points, in publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media and in manufacture of fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment - by 0.5 percentage points in each activity.
