On producer price changes in industry in October 2012

Compared to September, producer prices in the Latvian industry in October 2012 increased by 0.2%, according to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. The average producer price level of goods sold on the domestic market did not change, whereas prices of exported products grew by 0.5%. Price growth in the manufacture of food products (of 1.3%), in the manufacture of wood and products of wood, except furniture (of 1.1 %) and in the printing and reproduction of recorded media (of 3.8%) had the greatest increasing impact on the overall level of producer prices. In its turn, price decrease in the waste collection, treatment and disposal activities; materials recovery (of 3.1 %) and in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (of 0.2%) had the most significant lowering impact on the overall level of producer prices.

Compared to October 2011, the overall level of producer prices in October 2012 increased by 2.9%. The producer prices of goods sold on the domestic market grew by 3.7%, whereas prices of exported products rose by 1.9%. The most notable price growth was recorded in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (of 6.9%), in the manufacture of food products (of 3.4), in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood, except furniture (of 2.3%) and in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (of 21.0%). In its turn, price drop in the manufacture of basic metals (of 5.2%) had the greatest lowering impact on the overall level of producer prices.
