On producer price changes in industry in October 2010

Compared to September, the overall level of producer prices in Latvian industry in October 2010 reduced by 0.3%, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. Drop of prices was observed for goods sold on the domestic market (by 0.8%), but for exported goods prices increased by 0.3%. The overall level of producer prices was mostly influenced by price reduction in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 1.8%), in waste collection, treatment and disposal activities; materials recovery (by 9.6%), in the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (by 2.2%), in the manufacture of beverages (by 1.4%). However, the changes of the prices in the manufacture of food products and in the manufacture of fabricated metal products (except machinery and equipment) left the biggest upward impact on the overall level of producer prices (by 1.3% and 1.2%, respectively).

Over a year (compared to October 2009) producer prices in industry increased by 6.6%. The rise in prices of products sold on the domestic market was 5.1%, but prices of exported products rose by 9.0%. The changes of the prices in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (of 8.4%), in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood, except furniture (of 12.9%), in the manufacture of basic metals (of 27.5%), in the manufacture of food products (of 6.2%) had the biggest upward impact on the overall level of producer prices.
