On producer price changes in industry in October 2007

Compared to September, producer prices in Latvian industry in October 2007 increased by 1.9%, according to Central Statistical Bureau. Within a year (compared to October 2006) producer prices have increased by 15.9 %.

Compared to September, the overall level of producer prices in October was mostly effected by the price increase in the manufacture of food products and beverages (by 0.7 percentage points), in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood except furniture (by 0.4 percentage points), in electricity, gas, steam and hot water supply (by 0.3 percentage points), in the manufacture of non-metallic mineral products (by 0.2 percentage points). At the same time, in some industries decreases in prices were observed.

Over the year the price increase in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood except furniture and in the manufacture of food products and beverages left the biggest impact on the overall level of producer prices, increasing it by 4.1 and 3.8 percentage points respectively. The overall level of producer prices was raised by 3.1 percentage point in electricity, gas, steam and hot water supply.
