On producer price changes in industry in May 2011

Compared to April, the overall level of producer prices in Latvian industry in May 2011 increased by 1.0%, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia.Producer prices on the domestic market grew by 1.2%, but prices of exported goods rose by 0.7%.Most notable price growth was recorded in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (of 2.9%), in waste collection, treatment and disposal activities; materials recovery (of 4.8%), in printing and reproduction of recorded media (of 5.5%), in manufacture of wearing apparel (of 4.0%), in manufacture of non-metallic mineral products (of 1.9%), and in manufacture of food products (of 0.3%).
In its turn, price decrease in manufacture of wood and products of wood (except furniture) (of 0.7%) and in manufacture of basic metals (of 0.9%) has the most significant lowering impact on overall level of producer prices.

Compared to May 2010, the producer prices in industry in May 2011 increased by 7.8%.The prices of products sold on the domestic market rose by 9.5%, but prices of exported products grew by 5.3%.Price changes in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (of 10.3%), in manufacture of food products (of 11.2%), in manufacture of basic metals (of 14.2%), and in the manufacture of wood and products of wood, (except furniture) (of 4.0%) had the biggest upward impact on the overall level of producer prices.
