On producer price changes in industry in June 2010

Compared to May 2010, producer prices in Latvian industry in June increased by 0.8%, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. Rise of overall price level was characteristic for goods sold on the domestic market where prices increased by 1.7%, but prices for exported goods decreased by 0.4%. Major price increases were in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 4.4%), in the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (by 1.9%), in the manufacture of rubber and plastic products (by 2.4%), in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood, except furniture (by 0.4%).

Over a year (compared to June 2009) producer prices in industry increased by 6.0%. The rise in prices of products sold on the domestic market was 2.9%, but prices of exported products rose by 10.8%. The changes of the prices in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (rise of 6.2%), in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood, except furniture (growth of 14.0%), in the manufacture of basic metals (increase of 35.9%) had the biggest impact on the overall level of producer prices.
