On producer price changes in industry in July 2010

Compared to June 2010, the overall level of producer prices in Latvian industry in July 2010 remained unchangeable, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. Price growth was recorded for the sale of goods in the domestic market (0.4%), but prices of exported commodities diminished by 0.7%. Price changes in the manufacture of basic metals (reduction of 4.3%), in the manufacture of food products (growth of 1.0%), in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (increase of 0.8%), in the manufacture of wood and products of wood (except furniture) (rise of 1.3%), in the waste collection, treatment and disposal activities; materials recovery (decrease of 5.5%) had the greatest impact on the producer price overall level.

Over a year (compared to July 2009) producer prices in industry increased by 6.2%. The rise in prices of products sold on the domestic market was 4.1%, but prices of exported products rose by 9.5%. Price changes in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (increase of 8.5%), in the manufacture of wood and products of wood (except furniture) (rise of 14.0%), in the manufacture of basic metals (growth of 32.1%), in the manufacture of food products and in waste collection, treatment and disposal activities; materials recovery (growth of 2.2% and 33.2%, respectively) had the greatest influence on the producer price overall level.
