On producer price changes in industry in January 2012
Compared to December 2011, the overall level of producer prices in Latvian industry in January 2012 increased by 1.8%, according to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. Prices of products sold in the domestic market grew by 2.3%, but prices of exported goods rose by 1.1%. Price changes in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (of 5.3%), in waste collection, treatment and disposal activities; materials recovery (of 6.8%), in manufacture of food products (of 1.0%), in manufacture of wood and products of wood (except furniture) (of 0.9%), and in manufacture of basic metals (of 2.1%) had the most significant upward impact on the overall level of producer prices.
Compared to January 2011, the overall level of producer prices in Latvian industry in January 2012 increased by 7.1%. The prices of goods sold in the domestic market grew by 9.4%, whereas prices of exported products increased by 4.1%. Major price increases were observed in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (of 18.0%), in manufacture of food products (of 5.3%), in manufacture of basic metals (of 8.6%), and in manufacture of wood and products of wood (except furniture) (of 3.5%).
