On producer price changes in industry in February 2013

Compared to January, the overall level of producer prices in the Latvian industry in February 2013 decreased by 0.2%, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. The prices of goods sold at the domestic market decreased by 0.4%, whereas price level of exported products did not change. The most significant price reduction was recorded in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (of 1.2%), in manufacture of wearing apparel (of 4.7%), in printing and reproduction of recorded media (of 5.2%), and in waste collection, treatment and disposal activities; materials recovery (of 2.7%). Price growth in manufacture of basic metals (of 3.0%) had the greatest upward impact on the producer prices.

In comparison with February 2012, the overall level of producer prices in the Latvian industry in February 2013 increased by 1.7%. The prices of goods sold at the domestic market grew by 1.3%, whereas prices of exported products rose by 2.1%. The most notable price increase was observed in manufacture of food products (of 4.5%), and in manufacture of wood and products of wood, except furniture (of 2.3%), while reduction of prices in manufacture of basic metals (of 5.2%) had the biggest downward impact on the producer prices.
