On producer price changes in industry in April 2011

Compared to March, the overall level of producer prices in Latvian industry in April 2011 increased by 2.3%, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. Producer prices on the domestic market grew by 4.2%, but prices of exported goods reduced by 0.3%. The overall level of producer prices was mostly influenced by price increase of 8.2% in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, as well as by price growth of 1.4% in the manufacture of wood and products of wood (except furniture), of 2.5% in the manufacture of basic metals and of 1.0% in the manufacture of food products. In its turn, price decrease of 2.5% in the waste collection, treatment and disposal activities; materials recovery, of 1.1% in the manufacture of beverages and of 1.5% in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products had the most significant lowering impact.

Compared to April 2010, the producer prices in industry in April 2011 increased by 8.6%. The prices of products sold on the domestic market rose by 9.1%, but prices of exported products grew by 7.8%. Price changes of 8.6% in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, of 11.3% in the manufacture of food products, of 28.7% in the manufacture of basic metals  and of 8.4% in the manufacture of wood and products of wood (except furniture) had the biggest upward impact on the overall level of producer prices.
