On producer price changes in industry in April 2010

Compared to March 2010, producer prices in Latvian industry in April 2010 increased by 2.2%, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. Rise of overall price level was characteristic both for goods sold on the domestic market and for exported products (respectively, by 2.8% and 1.3%). The overall level of producer prices was mostly influenced by price increase of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 6.9%), as well as by price growth in the manufacture of basic metals (by 5.7%), in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood, except furniture (by 2.0%), in waste collection, treatment and disposal activities; materials recovery (by 10.9%). In its turn the price decrease in the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (by 1.9%), in the manufacture of wearing apparel (by 3.2%) and in the manufacture of food products (by 0.3%) had the main lowering impact on the overall producer price level.

Over a year (compared to April 2009) producer prices in industry increased by 0.5%. Reduction of prices of products sold on the domestic market was 3.6%, but prices of exported products increased by 7.3%. The changes of the prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (drop of 8.4%), as well as changes of prices in the manufacture of basic metals (increase of 27.0%), in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood, except furniture (growth of 9.8%), in waste collection, treatment and disposal activities; materials recovery (rise of 87.1%), in the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (decrease of 8.0%) and in the manufacture of food products (fall of 1.9%) had the biggest impact on the overall level of producer prices.
