On producer price changes in February 2007

Compared to January, producer prices in Latvian industry in February 2007 rose on average by 1.1%, according to the Central Statistical Bureau. Over the year (February 2007 over February 2006) producer prices have increased by 15.8%.

Compared to January, the overall level of producer prices in February was mostly raised by the following price increases: 0.3 percentage points in the manufacture of food products and beverages, 0.2 percentage points in the manufacture of wood and of articles of wood except furniture and 0.1 percentage point in the manufacture of non-metallic mineral products as well as in water supply, treatment and distribution. In turn, the price decrease in publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media had the greatest lowering impact on the overall price level (by 0.2 percentage points).

Over the year the price increase in the manufacture of wood and of articles of wood except furniture made the greatest impact on the overall price level raising it by 5.2 percentage points. The increase in the tariffs of electricity, gas, steam and hot water supply raised the overall price level by 2.5 percentage points. The overall price level was mostly raised due to the following price increases: 2.0 percentage points in the manufacture of food products and beverages, 0.7 percentage points in the manufacture of non-metallic mineral products and 0.5 percentage in publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media.
