On producer price changes in April 2007

Compared to March, producer prices in Latvian industry in April 2007 rose by 1.8%, according to the Central Statistical Bureau. Over the year (compared to April 2006) producer prices have increased by 17.8%.

In April, compared to March, the overall level of producer prices increased the price rise in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood (except furniture), publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media and also in other industries.

Over the year the price increase in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood (except furniture) left the biggest impact on the overall level of producer prices, increasing it by 6,2 percentage points. The rise in the tariffs of electricity, gas, steam and hot water supply increased the overall level of producer prices by 2,3 percentage points. The rise in prices of the manufacture of food products and beverages increased the overall level of producer prices by 2,0 percentage points, in the manufacture of non-metallic mineral products - by 0,8 percentage points, in manufacture of fabricated metal products (except machinery and equipment) - by 0,7 percentage points, in publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media - by 0,6 percentage points.
