Official Statistics Programme for 2017–2019 has been approved

The Official Statistics Programme (OSP) for 2017–2019 has been approved during today’s sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers. It collects information on official statistics that will be provided by 51 public institutions of Latvia over the following three years in accordance with the objectives and criteria prescribed by the Statistics Law.

For the convenience of the users of statistics, the OSP is made up of three interconnected sections. The first section includes statistical information that will be compiled and published by ministries and other government institutions within the framework of funds granted to them in order to fulfil the requirements set by international, European Union or Latvian laws and regulations.

An important upgrade and addition is the second section, which includes information on official statistics indicators to be published in 2017, the level of detail thereof, as well as publication frequency. The respective table is made on the indicators to be ensured during the following year, therefore it will be updated every year. Users of statistics may access the information indicated in the second section of OSP on the websites of statistical institutions free of charge.

In order to protect the rights and interests of the respondents, as well as ensure their awareness, the third section of OSP determines the volume and type of use of personal data, which institutions plan to acquire from administrative data sources for the provision of official statistics during a period of three years.
