In October retail trade turnover increased by 0.4%; over a year – by 3.4%

Data of Central Statistical Bureau show that, compared to September, total retail trade turnover in October 2013 rose by 0.4%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Retail trade in food products has grown by 1.1%, whereas of non-food products has remained the same.

In comparison with September, total retail trade turnover at current prices, not considering the seasonality, in October of this year grew by 1.7%. A year ago – in October 2012 – turnover increased by 0.6% as compared to September.

Compared to October of the previous year, total retail trade turnover in October rose by 3.4%, according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices. Rise in food commodity group comprised 3.6%, but in non-food commodity group – 3.3%, of which in retail sale of automotive fuel – 5.2%. Most rapid turnover increase in October was observed in retail sale of furniture, lighting equipment and other household articles – 24.8%, in retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet – 24.1%, as well as in retail sale of textiles – 13.9%.

In comparison with October of the previous year, total retail trade turnover at current prices rose by 3.0% (not taking into account the calendar influence).

During the period of time from January to October, as compared to the same period of the previous year, total retail trade turnover has grown by 3.6%, according to calendar adjusted data.
