New statistical data collection „On the information society in Latvia” has been released
The Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) has released statistical data collection „On the information society in Latvia”. It includes data on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in different fields- in households, among individuals, in business and education.
The 1st chapter focuses on main indicators of ICT sector enterprises from 2000 until 2006.
The 2nd and 3rd chapters include data on the use of ICT in households and among individuals from 2004 until 2007.
Use of computers and Internet in the 1st quarter of 2007 by groups of age
Also information on the kinds of Internet connection in households, computer skills of individuals, location and purposes of computer use, as well as shopping on the Internet and other binding information is published.

Data on the usage of ICT in households are grouped by the type of household, income and by region, but the data on the availability of ICT among individuals are grouped by the gender, age, education, employment, as well as by region.
The 4th chapter of the collection provides information on the ICT indicators in enterprises – computerization degree, share of employees using computer/Internet in their work on regular basis, purposes for using Internet and types of connection, as well as the most important indicators reflecting the activities of e-commerce in enterprises. Also this chapter includes recent data on 2007 which are provided by the kind of activity of an enterprise and by the number of employees there.
Use of computers and Internet in enterprises with the number of employees 10 and more
The 5th chapter reflects level of informatization in education institutions, but 6th provides international comparatives which show the place of Latvia among other European Union countries.
Data collection „On the information society in Latvia” can be purchased in the Information Centre of the CSB in Riga, Lāčplēša iela 1, as well as it can be ordered electronically.
