Manufacturing turnover in April has diminished by 5.1%


Seasonally adjusted data (at current prices) of the Central Statistical Bureau show that, compared to March 2013, manufacturing turnover1 in April 2013 has dropped by 5.1%, of which by 5.9% in domestic market and by 4% in export.

The most notable turnover reduction, as compared to the previous month, in both domestic market and export was recorded in manufacture of basic metals – of 46.8%, manufacture of chemicals and chemical products – of 29.7%, and in repair and installation of machinery and equipment (repair and maintenance of ships and boats, repair of fabricated metal products, machinery and equipment, installation of industrial machinery and equipment) – of 17.8%.

In comparison with March, turnover rise was observed in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations – of 19.6% (increase in both domestic market and export), in manufacture of textiles – of 12% (growth in both markets), and in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products – of 7.4% (rise in export, while reduction in domestic market).

Compared to April 2012, manufacturing turnover in April 2013, according to calendar adjusted data, decreased by 3.6%, of which in domestic market by 3.8% and in export – by 3.3%.
